The Mt. Zion Bulldogs can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 64-57 win over Stockbridge. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Jaki Bell was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with six rebounds and two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Devante Burgest, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chase Taylor, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Taylor has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ny' zmere Pearson, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Stockbridge struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Mt. Zion posted ten assists.
Mt. Zion's win bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Stockbridge, they dropped their record down to 3-18 with that loss, which was their 17th straight at home.
Mt. Zion will head out on the road to square off against Pace Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pace Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 515 points over their last eight matchups. As for Stockbridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Luella at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Luella and Stockbridge are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads.
