Bath proved they can win big on Friday (they won by eight) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 14-13 win over Shawnee.
Tarynn Vorhes was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Aaliyah Young, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bath kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Parkway got themselves on the board against New Bremen on Tuesday, but New Bremen never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Cardinals. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Bryn Schoenleben made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emmery Temple, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Hadley Stover was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Parkway's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Bath, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bath hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .320. However, it's not like Parkway struggles in that department as they've averaged .396. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
