Two dominant backs in Liam Larson and Trevor Halalilo are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Summit Academy Bears will venture away from home to face off against the Layton Christian Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Summit Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Providence Hall 70-8. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Preston MacKowiak was his usual excellent self, throwing for 210 yards and five touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes. His passing game has become a key predictor of Summit Academy's success: the team is 4-1 when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. Beau Edmunds was in the mix too, providing the Bears with two TDs.
Summit Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Talin Hill and Ian Hall. Hall is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last three games he's played. Summit Academy got some further help from Tug Wilbur: he picked up two sacks and made seven total tackles (5.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Layton Christian Academy entered their tilt with American Leadership Academy on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 76-12 win over American Leadership Academy. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Layton Christian Academy just coasted through the last quarter.
Summit Academy better keep an eye on Chris Munroe. He was instrumental in Layton Christian Academy's win, rushing for 163 yards and one score on only five carries, while also throwing for 192 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 passes. Munroe really tore up the turf during one magnificent 76-yard run.
Layton Christian Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 441 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 230 rushing yards in six consecutive games.
Layton Christian Academy's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. American Leadership Academy's QB won't forget William Wittenberg anytime soon given he sacked him three times. Another thorn in American Leadership Academy's side was Kili Fuahala, who picked up a sack and made six total tackles (4.0 for loss).
Layton Christian Academy's record is now 7-2. As for Summit Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
We should be in store for an exciting game as the two teams have no problem gaining yardage. Summit Academy has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 376.8 total yards per game. However, it's not like Layton Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 379.8 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Summit Academy took a serious blow against Layton Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 49-14. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Bears were down 29-8.
