2A-1 Region I District 4 recap September 24, 2013
Tanner Locklear and Hunter Enloe provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Forsan. The connection went for 68 yards, the longest such play in 2A-1 Region I District 4 this season.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Eastland beat Goldthwaite 36-15,. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Mavericks.
Dylan Johnston was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 92 yards on 16 carries as Jim Ned beat the Buffaloes. Teammate Locklear added to the ground attack by rushing for 60 yards.
Locklear was a passing and rushing force as the Indians topped Forsan. Locklear's favorite target this week was Enloe, who caught 6 passes for 186 yards.
Enloe was the best wideout in 2A-1 Region I District 4 this week as Jim Ned defeated Jason Phillips' team.
Ty Spears threw for 193 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 10-28 with 2 interceptions.
Spears put up the best numbers in passing as Clyde defeated Lamesa. Spears' favorite target this week was Mason Burson, who caught 2 passes for 77 yards.
Jim Ned's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Indians feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Locklear has thrown for 770 yards and 8 touchdowns this season, while Enloe has 25 catches for 370 yards. Locklear also leads the league in rushing with 339 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Dublin takes on Merkel. As it stands, the Lions are in second, while the Badgers are in sixth.
There should be lots of points scored when the Bulldogs and Jeff Williamson's team face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Clyde comes in having scored 138 this season, while the Indians have scored 94. Rocky Smart's team scored 49 points last week as it bested the Tornadoes.
Dublin scaled the state rankings by moving to 801 from 950 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Lions climbed the ranks as a result of topping Valley Mills 42-0.
