The Palmer Trinity Falcons pushed their score all the way to 60 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 70-60 to Homestead. While losing is never fun, Palmer Trinity can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 411th, while Homestead is ranked 158th).
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Graham Yanowitch, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Harrison Miles, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Homestead's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rodney Holmes led the charge by dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Holmes scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Anthony Reed , who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds.
Palmer Trinity has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Homestead, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Palmer Trinity will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Everglades Prep Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Homestead will be home for the holidays to greet Dr. Krop at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
