The Wakefield School Fighting Owls put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Foxcroft with points to spare, taking the game 27-12. Given Wakefield School's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Foxcroft is ranked 280th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wakefield School's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ceci Turner led the charge by scoring seven points along with ten steals. Turner has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Aya Mason was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds and five blocks.
Wakefield School pushed their record up to 9-0 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Foxcroft, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Wakefield School's road trip will continue as they head out to face Shenandoah Valley Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Shenandoah Valley Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Foxcroft, they will face off against Highland at TBD on Monday. Highland comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 21 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
