Arik Washington of Russell Christian Academy ran for the longest rushing play in MAIS A District 5 (8 Man) this season against Calvary Christian last week. Washington's team defeated the Cougars as he sprinted for 93 yards on the play and finished with 153 in all.
Russell Christian Academy extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Calvary Christian, 55-6. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
The Warriors' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jacob Howse threw for 141 and three touchdowns and Kyle Russell had 92 yards receiving. Ben McGraw helped Russell Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching one ball for 49 yards.
Walker Mosby made the biggest impact on defense this week as Russell Christian Academy topped the Cougars. The 5-foot-10 senior racked up two sacks.
The Warriors' Howse and McGraw have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Howse has thrown for 589 yards this season, while McGraw, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 10 catches for 366 yards. Kyle Carter from Calhoun Academy leads the league in rushing with 640 yards.
The marquee game in MAIS A District 5 (8 Man) this week will be the clash between Delta Academy and the Cougars. The Raiders enters the contest ranked 13th in the state, while Calhoun Academy ranks third.
The Cougars led the league in scoring this week after putting up 60 points on North Sunflower Academy. Hunter Harmon threw for 50 yards and one touchdown and ran for 23 yards in the win.
