Basketball Game Preview: Dublin Fighting Irish vs. Wheeler County Bulldogs

Dublin has gone 7-2 against Wheeler County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Dublin Fighting Irish will head out on the road to challenge the Wheeler County Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Dublin comes in on three and Wheeler County on six.

On Tuesday, Dublin earned a 52-40 win over Jefferson County. Given the Fighting Irish's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Warriors are ranked 483rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dublin can attribute much of their success to Aj Johnson, who posted 16 points and seven rebounds, and Javion Harris, who went 6 for 7 en route to 14 points. The dominant performance also gave Harris a new career-high in assists (two). Another player making a difference was Tristian Bell, who had five points and five assists.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Wheeler County on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Wilcox County out of the water with a 65-35 final score. With the Bulldogs ahead 42-18 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Wheeler County pushed their record up to 9-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Dublin, their win bumped their record up to 15-4.

Dublin took their victory against Wheeler County in their previous matchup back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 86-61. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dublin since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
