Baseball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Fairview's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Fairview came out on top against Conneaut Area on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Eagles. Considering the Tigers have won five matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Vinny Campoli was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and five RBI.

In other batting news, Fairview let Luke Rzodkiewicz and Andrew Stevens run wild. Rzodkiewicz went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Stevens got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Another player making a difference was Tyler Benford, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Fairview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April.

Fairview is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Conneaut Area, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairview will venture away from home to face off against Girard at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Conneaut Area, they will head out to challenge Corry at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Beavers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
