Fayetteville is a perfect 7-0 against Hampshire since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Fayetteville will host Hampshire at 6:00 p.m.
Fayetteville's last matchup with Eagleville could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Wednesday. Fayetteville came up short against Eagleville, falling 17-4. That makes it the first time this season the Tigers have let down their home crowd.
Fayetteville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Quick, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
While Hampshire didn't have the best season last year (they finished 1-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Whites Creek by a score of 12-8 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.
Hampshire got a massive performance out of Kasen Anderson, who scored two runs and stole six bases while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Anderson a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Cameron Marrisett, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
Hampshire always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Hampshire's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Fayetteville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Fayetteville has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hampshire struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Fayetteville's way against Hampshire in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Fayetteville made off with a 14-4 victory. Does Fayetteville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hampshire turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
