V Section IV recap September 17, 2013
Chandler Prep lost to Bourgade Catholic 48-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Scottsdale Preparatory Academy made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,575 from 13,583. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 49-8 victory over Camp Verde last week.
The Spartans' dynamic duo of Nick Smith and Matt Munsil proved tough for the Cowboys to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Smith threw for 442 yards and 7 touchdowns and Munsil had 180 yards receiving. Ben McKeighan helped Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 173 yards.
Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's dynamic duo of Smith and Munsil proved to be unstoppable against Camp Verde, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Nick Zalkow made the biggest impact on defense this week as Scottsdale Christian Academy fell to Pusch Ridge Christian Academy. The 5-foot-11 junior.
Munsil was the best receiver in V Section IV this week as Will Munsil's team topped Steve Darby's team.
Smith put up the best numbers through the air as the Spartans beat the Cowboys.
Cory Kasperson was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 88 yards on 11 carries as Valley Christian topped Camp Verde. Teammate Ramon Colon-Santiago added to the ground attack by rushing for 77 yards.
The Spartans' Smith and McKeighan have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-2 quarterback Smith has thrown for 479 yards this season, while McKeighan has 13 catches for 310 yards. The Titans' Braxton Barger leads the league in rushing yards with 334.
As it stands, the Trojans are in third, while Chandler Prep is in fourth.
Scottsdale Preparatory Academy led V Section IV in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on the Cowboys. Smith ran for 25 yards during the win.
