Fallston has gone a perfect 8-0 against Havre de Grace recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Cougars will square off against the Warriors. The last three games Fallston has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
If Fallston beats Havre de Grace with five runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Cougars skirted past Francis Scott Key 5-3.
Ally Underwood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Abby Marmen and Mary Pfaff did most of the damage at the plate: Marmen got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Pfaff went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Pfaff has posted since back in March of 2024. May Ambrose was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Havre de Grace extended their postseason success on Thursday against Lake Clifton. They never let the Lakers get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 11 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Sarah Weitzel was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Weitzel was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryleigh Curry, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Kinsey Mentzer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.
Havre de Grace always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .900. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Havre de Grace is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Fallston, they pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fallston hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Havre de Grace struggles in that department as they've averaged .349. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fallston came out on top in a nail-biter against Havre de Grace when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
