Softball Recap: Kerman Wins Going Away Against Sanger West

Kerman lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Sanger West, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's matchup. Everything went the Kerman Lions' way against the Sanger West Hornets on Thursday as the Kerman Lions made off with a 12-1 win. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Lions this season.

Roxy Alvarez made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Sydney Yep was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Vanenzya Enriquez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.

Kerman hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most one strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

Kerman's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Sanger West, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-3-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kerman will head out to challenge Madera South at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sanger West, they will face off against San Joaquin Memorial at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
