The Hozho Academy Wolves will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Navajo Prep Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
On Monday, Hozho Academy got the win against Shiprock by a conclusive 18-9.
Brody Brown was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-6.
In other batting news, Keihin Kirk was a standout: he got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those triples were his first of the season. Elias Longhat was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-6.
Hozho Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shiprock only managed eight hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Navajo Prep). They were the clear victors by an 18-6 margin over Pecos on Saturday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Eagles considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Nehemiah Simpson was a standout: he scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Koltyn Holyan, who scored two runs and stole six bases while going 1-for-3.
Hozho Academy now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Navajo Prep, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hozho Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .541. However, it's not like Navajo Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .533. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
