Forrest City are taking a road trip to take on Central Arkansas Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Forrest City knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Central Arkansas Christian likes a good challenge.
Forrest City lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Heber Springs, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 52-28 margin over the Panthers on Friday. Considering the Mustangs have won four games by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kevin Young produced another solid performance rushing for 149 yards and one touchdown while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and also throwing for 163 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes. He didn't just play on offense: he also forced one fumble and made two total tackles (1.0 for loss). Vonterrious Williams was another key player, picking up 121 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Forrest City's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jaiden Ware, Frank Crutcher, and Jayveon Appleby, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, Central Arkansas Christian managed to keep up with Mills University Studies until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Mustangs came up short against the Comets, falling 47-21. The Mustangs have struggled against the Comets recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Forrest City pushed their record up to 5-4 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.4 points over those games. As for Central Arkansas Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Everything went Forrest City's way against Central Arkansas Christian in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as Forrest City made off with a 36-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Forrest City since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
