The North Putnam Cougars will head out on the road to face off against the South Putnam Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully North Putnam focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
North Putnam has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 21 points or more this season. They put the hurt on Cloverdale with a sharp 61-38 victory.
North Putnam's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lexi Daigle, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rose Haste, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
Meanwhile, South Putnam waltzed into Tuesday's match with three straight wins but they left with four. They enjoyed a cozy 39-23 victory over Crawfordsville. Given South Putnam's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while Crawfordsville is ranked 370th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The losses dropped North Putnam to 5-4 and Cloverdale to 0-7.
North Putnam ended up a good deal behind South Putnam when the teams last played two weeks ago, losing 49-32. Can North Putnam avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
