Northfield came into Friday's contest looking for another win against Vista PEAK Prep, but Knakai Starks wouldn't allow it. The Vista PEAK Prep Bison walked away with a 72-65 win over the Northfield Nighthawks on Friday thanks in part to Starks, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 16 boards. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.
The team also got some help courtesy of Amaya Nance, who posted 12 points and four steals. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Northfield's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madison Bethel, who went 6 for 10 to rack up 16 points. Bethel has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Kate Snodgrass was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to six rebounds and five blocks.
Vista PEAK Prep's victory bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Northfield, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vista PEAK Prep will host Rangeview at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. As for Northfield, they and Denver South will meet in a classic North v. South matchup at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Northfield knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Denver South likes a good challenge.
