Holdrege is 0-5 against Broken Bow since October of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Dusters will venture away from home to face off against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. Holdrege has given up an average of 34.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 42-14, which was the final score in Holdrege's tilt against Minden on Friday.
Although Holdrege took the loss, they still got scores from Landon Vanboening and Lucas Johnson.
Meanwhile, Broken Bow played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Cozad, falling 35-14. The Indians gained 99 more yards on the day, but it was the Haymakers that made the best use of them.
Holdrege will need to focus on slowing down Ayden Clark, one of several Broken Bow players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 120 yards and one touchdown. An impressive showing, but Clark really ramped things up playing D: he picked up two sacks and made seven total tackles.
Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 3.5 yards per carry. The team can thank Cobe Wells for the heroic effort on defense: he. Broken Bow didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.7.
Broken Bow's defensive line didn't let Julien Davis, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Clark was the leader with two. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 101 rushing yards.
Holdrege's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Broken Bow, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Things could have been worse for Holdrege, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 26-7 loss to Broken Bow when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Can the Dusters avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
