Airport is 8-2 against Riverview since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Jets will welcome the Pirates at 4:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Airport will bounce into Wednesday's match after beating Milan, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Jets were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Big Reds on Monday.
Brooklyn Martin was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Olivia Tilley was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brenna Baker, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Riverview won against Taylor on Friday with 17 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Pirates blew past Grosse Ile 17-2. The Pirates haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Like Airport, Riverview also got a great game from a two-way player: Olivia Salinas. Throwing, Salinas tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Makayla Raymond tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Salinas got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs, while Raymond went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Brooklyn Klein was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Ferrara, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Riverview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .455 or higher in three consecutive games.
Airport is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Riverview, their victory bumped their record up to 22-7-1.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Airport hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Riverview struggles in that department as they've averaged .414. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Airport beat Riverview 10-5 in their previous matchup back in April. Will the Jets repeat their success, or do the Pirates have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
