Basketball Recap: Arundel Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Arundel can now relate to. They fell to the Decatur Seahawks 51-47. The contest was a 26-26 toss-up at halftime, but the Wildcats couldn't quite close it out.

Arundel's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellis Johnson, who posted 15 points and three blocks. The matchup was Johnson's third in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Javeon Reed, who put up 12 points in addition to five assists and five steals.

Decatur's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Judah Carmack led the charge by going 7-for-10 en route to 14 points and seven boards. That's the most points Carmack has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Davin Chandler, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Arundel's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-11. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points over those games. As for Decatur, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 23-3.

Arundel does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Decatur, they have already played their next game, a 57-45 loss against South River on the 6th.
