The Vail Mountain Gore Rangers won the last time they faced the Caprock Academy Eagles, and things went their way on Thursday too. Vail Mountain walked away with a 42-34 victory over Caprock Academy. The win made it back-to-back wins for Vail Mountain.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vail Mountain to victory, but perhaps none more so than Charlie Vidal, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Hunter Iverson, who scored nine points.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Reed Struwe, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Spinu, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Vail Mountain's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Caprock Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vail Mountain will face off against Middle Park at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Middle Park will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Caprock Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Vail Christian at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Hopefully Vail Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Tuesday.
