It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the South Charlotte T Thunder ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They managed a 51-47 victory over Grace Academy. The win was a breath of fresh air for South Charlotte T as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
South Charlotte T's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bella Aitchison, who scored 17 points along with six assists and three steals. It was the first time this season that Aitchison scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Reeves, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Grace Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Austin Miller, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. Miller continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Kalista Pressley was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Grace Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as South Charlotte T posted 15 assists.
South Charlotte T's win bumped their record up to 6-15. As for Grace Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Charlotte T will take on the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Covenant Classical has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Grace Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against the at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
