After a string of four wins, the Eastmark Firebirds's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 72-52 walloping at the hands of American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Eastmark has scored all season.
Eastmark's loss came despite strong showings from Rhys Walcott and Timothy Gorham. Walcott almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds, while Gorham scored 18 points. It was the first time this season that Walcott pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Burns, who scored six points along with five assists.
Connor Morris was his usual excellent self, scoring ten points for American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North.
Eastmark's loss dropped their record down to 14-7. As for American Leadership Academy - Gilbert North, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
