After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Crestview, the LaBrae Vikings were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 63-39 margin over Garfield. Given LaBrae's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while Garfield is ranked 679th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
LaBrae found their leader in underclassman Ella Kuszmaul, who scored 27 points along with five steals. The match was Kuszmaul's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Riley Rowe, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals.
LaBrae's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Garfield, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.
LaBrae will be playing at home against Bristol at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday. Bristol is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Garfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Champion at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Champion focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Thursday.
