Hoover took care of business in their home opener on Thursday. They came out on top against the Caruthers Blue Raiders by a score of 3-1. That's more bragging rights for the Patriots, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Hoover walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 25-14, 20-25, 25-22.
Avery Roberson paced Hoover's offense, picking up 18 kills. Roberson got some help from Alejandra Espino and her 17 assists. Ophelia Ly controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hoover will face off against Yosemite at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Caruthers, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Avenal on Wednesday.
