On Thursday, Joaquin had to suffer through a rough 84-39 loss at the hands of Martins Mill. While losing is never fun, Joaquin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1209th, while Martins Mill is ranked 79th).
Martins Mill's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sawyer Moore, who went 7 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points and 3 assists. Moore set a new season high mark in steals with three. Another player making a difference was Archer Schneider, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds.
Joaquin has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Martins Mill, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Brook Hill the next time they take the court. Joaquin will head out to face Brook Hill at 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, while Martins Mill will host them at 10:20 a.m. on Thursday.
