The Sahuaro Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 27 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 63-14 win over Tanque Verde on the road. Sahuaro's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
It was another big night for Kristen Valdez, who scored 26 points along with seven rebounds. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Boyd, who scored six points.
Sahuaro's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Tanque Verde, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Sahuaro won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Sierra Linda at 6:00 p.m. on December 14th. Sierra Linda will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Sahuaro is ranked 24th). Tanque Verde will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on San Miguel at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
