If the Owen Warhorses were riding high  off their  43-10 takedown of NCSSM: Morganton last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Owen was dealt a  77-25 defeat at the hands of Avery County on Friday. Owen has not had much luck with Avery County recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
  Ellie Martin and  Hayden Koone certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss.  Martin  scored 11 points along with six  rebounds and five  steals, while  Koone  scored four points.
  Zoie Mcclarrin continued  her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Avery County,  almost  dropping  a double-double on 17 points and nine  rebounds. Mcclarrin has been hot recently, having posted nine or more  rebounds the last four times she's  played. The team also got some help courtesy of  Marley Jones, who  scored 19 points along with five  rebounds.
 Owen has  been struggling recently as they've  lost seven of their last eight matchups,  which put a noticeable dent in their 4-19 record  this season. As for Avery County,  the  victory  made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 13-9.
 Owen will head out on the road to  face off against  Madison at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Owen is facing Madison at the right time seeing as Madison is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Avery County, they will be playing at home against Mitchell at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday.
