The Jones County Coyotes were the 86-66 winner over the Wall Eagles when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Jones County took a serious blow against Wall on Friday, falling 82-39. Jones County found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 14 to 6 on offense.
Jones County's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Bryer Kinsley, who scored eight points, and Kaden Kinsley who scored ten points. Kinsley hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Wall found their leader in underclassman Teelan Kjerstad, who scored 21 points. That's the first time this season that Kjerstad scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Handcock, who scored ten points.
Jones County's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-3. As for Wall, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jones County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Colome at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Wall won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Bennett County at 3:30 p.m. on January 6th. Bennett County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Dakota Rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Wall is ranked 48th).
