Elk Grove added to the longest winning streak in Delta Valley Conference this week by beating Grant, 7-3. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Thundering Herd.
Franklin took down Davis 47-7 last week, the largest margin of any game. Lamar Jackson threw for 53 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 43 yards in the win.
BEN HARTMAN made the biggest impact on defense this week as Laguna Creek lost to Monterey Trail. The 5-foot-11 senior racked up 1 sack.
RUSSELL WILLIAMS JR. was a passing and rushing force as the Cardinals fell to the Mustangs. He completed 11 passes for 88 yards and also ran for 109 yards. WILLIAMS JR.'s favorite target this week was LEEYONTRE BUMPUS, who caught 8 passes for 66 yards.
Jahmar Sexton was the best receiver in the league this week as Monterey Trail beat Laguna Creek. Sexton tallied 2 receptions for 81 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Wildcats' Jackson and Jabarri Johnson have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-2 quarterback Jackson has thrown for 882 yards this season, while Johnson has 19 catches for 338 yards. Elk Grove's Wadus Parker leads the league in rushing yards with 977.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Franklin's Johnson goes up against Chris Nixon's team's Shaunard Harts.
The Thundering Herd's Parker is a mere 23 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 110 carries Parker has put up 977 yards this year.
One of Delta Valley Conference's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Wildcats and Elk Grove face off next week.
