Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Hope Huskies vs. Blackstone Valley Prep PRIDE

Mt. Hope is 4-0 against Blackstone Valley Prep since February of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Mt. Hope Huskies will host the Blackstone Valley Prep PRIDE at 5:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Mt. Hope has four straight wins, Blackstone Valley Prep has 17 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Monday, Mt. Hope earned a 68-59 victory over Davies Career & Tech.

Mt. Hope can attribute much of their success to Maleaq Roderick, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds, and Matthew Macdougall, who went 9 of 15 on his way to 18 points and four steals. Those 14 boards gave Roderick a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of John Thompson, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Mt. Hope smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Blackstone Valley Prep scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. The game between them and Scituate didn't end well, with Blackstone Valley Prep falling 71-56.

Mt. Hope is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Blackstone Valley Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-16.

Mt. Hope beat Blackstone Valley Prep 62-53 in their previous matchup back in January of 2022. Will Mt. Hope repeat their success, or does Blackstone Valley Prep have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
