The Poplarville Hornets are on the road again on Friday and play against the Columbia Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on November 24th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Poplarville extended their postseason success on Friday against Lawrence County. They blew past the Cougars 44-20. The score was close at the half, but Poplarville pulled away in the second half with 21 points.
Poplarville found their leader in underclassman Tylan Keys, who rushed for 175 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per carry. Keys is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last eight games he's played. Lane Amacker was another key contributor, gaining 80 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Columbia put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 42-7 win over Pass Christian. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 21-0.
Poplarville is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Columbia, their victory bumped their record up to 13-0.
Poplarville came out on top in a nail-biter against Columbia when the teams last played back in October of 2022, sneaking past 20-18. Does Poplarville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Columbia turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
