The Mooresville Pioneers won the last time they faced the Mt. Vernon Marauders, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Mooresville secured a 41-37 W over Mt. Vernon. Given Mooresville's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Mt. Vernon is ranked 162nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mooresville was led to victory by Emma Mcginley and Rachel Harshman. Mcginley scored 11 points along with five rebounds, while Harshman dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Hardy, who scored four points along with five steals.
Mooresville is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Mt. Vernon, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-13.
Mooresville will be playing at home against Plainfield at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mt. Vernon, they will head out on the road to challenge Greenfield-Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Greenfield-Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Tuesday.
