It was a good run, but the Centennial Hawks unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 52-42 to Carlsbad. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Centennial of the 50-28 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.
Centennial's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brady Rewalt, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Mikai Schuette, who scored 11 points.
Centennial now has a losing record at 7-8. As for Carlsbad, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Centennial will take on Alamogordo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alamogordo is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Carlsbad, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Lovington at 7:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in New Mexico (Lovington is ranked 42nd, while Carlsbad is ranked 31st).
