The Atherton Ravens will challenge the Brown Bears at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Atherton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Atherton faced off against Clay on Saturday. Atherton fell 7-3 to Clay. The Ravens have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

03/22/25 vs Villa Madonna | 7 |
05/15/24 @ Ballard | 4 |
03/18/25 @ Larue County | 2 |
04/25/24 @ Fern Creek | 2 |
Jackson Lonnon was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, McCoy Morgan was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Caleb Johnson also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Brown put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They never let Doss get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. While the Bears didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Quinn Gallagher made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.5 strikeouts per game. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Brown got a massive performance out of Oscar Wright, who scored three runs and stole six bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Wright is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Jamison Calloway, who scored three runs and stole six bases while going 1-for-2.
Brown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive matches.
Brown pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Atherton, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Atherton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .465. However, it's not like Brown struggles in that department as they've averaged .510. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
