The Jackson Jaguars had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 50.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They strolled past Creekside with points to spare, taking the game 66-52. Given Jackson's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Creekside is ranked 66th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jackson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cayden Cornish, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Kennedie Cooper, who scored 12 points along with six assists.
Creekside's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of C?India Dennis, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, and Skye Cleveland who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The game was Cleveland's 12th in a row with at least ten points. Sydnee Hunter was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Jackson pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.83 points. As for Creekside, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jackson will challenge Tri-Cities at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Tri-Cities focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday. As for Creekside, they will head out on the road to face off against Banneker at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Banneker is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
