Basketball Recap: Olathe Comes Up Short

Olathe lost against Roaring Fork back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Olathe Pirates lost 82-61 to the Roaring Fork Rams. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (57), the Pirates still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Olathe still got an impressive performance from Isaiah Gordon, who went 9 for 22 on his way to 28 points and three steals. Gordon's afternoon made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Elijah Gordon was another key player, putting up 16 points and six assists.

Even though they lost, Olathe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive matchups.

Roaring Fork's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lucas Carballeira, who went 10 of 18 en route to 22 points. Carballeira has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Luis Andrade, who went 6 for 8 on his way to 15 points and eight rebounds.

Olathe's defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Roaring Fork, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3.

Olathe is taking a road trip to face off against Ridgway at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Olathe knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Ridgway likes a good challenge. Roaring Fork has already played their next contest (against Meeker), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
