Uwharrie Charter has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Wheatmore Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Uwharrie Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
Uwharrie Charter scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They were the clear victor by a 68-46 margin over Eastern Randolph. Uwharrie Charter has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Uwharrie Charter found their leader in underclassman Nevaeh Staples, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and five blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Painter, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Wheatmore, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-42 loss to Southwestern Randolph on Friday. While losing is never fun, Wheatmore can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while Southwestern Randolph is ranked 116th).
Uwharrie Charter is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. As for Wheatmore, they dropped their record down to 12-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Uwharrie Charter was able to grind out a solid victory over Wheatmore when the teams last played back in January, winning 37-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for Uwharrie Charter since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
