The Fishers Tigers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 70-38 win over Avon. Fishers has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Keenan Garner, who scored 22 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. He is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Millen Mccartney, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Avon's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kendrick Dunmore, who scored six points along with eight blocks and six rebounds. Dunmore has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Rohan Pearson, who scored eight points along with five blocks.
Avon struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Fishers pushed their record up to 14-0 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Avon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fishers won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Carroll at 4:30 p.m. on January 20th. Carroll will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 146th, while Fishers is ranked first). As for Avon, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Decatur Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Decatur Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
