Glendale and Pasadena are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Nitros will challenge the Bulldogs at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Glendale is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
Glendale fell victim to Arcadia and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to the Apaches. The shutout was out of character for the Nitros seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in February.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pasadena). They were the clear victors by a 23-3 margin over Hoover on Tuesday. With that victory, the Bulldogs brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Ellen Gomez was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Gomez was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double. That double was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Sophia Arrechiga was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of MIlania Thomas, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
Pasadena always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .850. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Glendale's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Pasadena, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-6-1.
Everything went Glendale's way against Pasadena in their previous meeting back in May of 2025, as Glendale made off with a 17-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Nitros since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
