WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After taking the lead in the fourth quarter,
Loyalsock Township. (Williamsport, Pa.) held on for a 14-10 victory over
Montoursville (Pa.) on Saturday. The difference for the Lancers was that
Kyle Datres ran for a touchdown.
The score was knotted at seven heading into the half. The Lancers took the lead for good on a touchdown run by Datres in the fourth quarter.
The loss snapped Montoursville's nine-game winning streak.
Montoursville's lone touchdown came on a 4-yard run by
Cameron Ott in the first quarter.
Loyalsock Township. entered the contest giving up 20.0 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding the Warriors well below their season average of 31.6 points scored per game.
The Williamsport school got revenge for last year's 21-6 loss to Montoursville with the victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Montoursville, which notched a 35-31 victory over Mifflinburg in its previous outing.
