The Hilton Head Island Seahawks fell victim to the James Island Trojans''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 38-0 loss at the hands of the Trojans. Hilton Head Island just can't catch a break and has now endured five defeats in a row.
Jackson Bibee threw for 47 yards on nine of 15 attempts. Jake Huggins was his top target, picking up 32 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
James Island's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Braxton Scott led the charge by rushing for 34 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 195 yards and a touchdown on only 14 passes. Amontrae Scott also helped out with an impressive 98 receiving yards.
Hilton Head Island's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.0 points per game. As for James Island, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Hilton Head Island will be playing at home against May River at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (May River is ranked 102nd, while Hilton Head Island is ranked 120th). As for James Island, they will head out on the road to face off against Lucy Beckham at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lucy Beckham is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
