1A District 3 recap October 1, 2013
Vyn'Quez O'Steen and Raymond Plummer provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Peabody. The connection was good for 82 yards, the longest such play in 1A District 3 this season.
Logan Wilson of LaSalle ran for the longest rushing play in the league this season against Tensas last week. Wilson scampered for 58 yards on the play and finished with 98 on the day as his team topped the Panthers.
Block's dynamic duo of O'Steen and Plummer proved to be unstoppable against the Warhorses, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. O'Steen threw for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns and Plummer had 110 yards receiving.
Cole Hendrix was a passing and rushing force as LaSalle beat Tensas. He completed 7 passes for 120 yards and also ran for 70 yards. Hendrix's key target this week was Kenneth Smith, who caught 2 passes for 51 yards.
Aaron Calcote was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Bears fell to Peabody. The 6-foot-0 freshman racked up 3.5 sacks.
Thanks to the talents of Hendrix and Wilson, the Tigers have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Hendrix leads the league in passing with 600 yards, while Wilson has rushed for 467 yards this season. Montgomery's Bijon Washington leads the league in receiving yards with 189 on 6 catches.
LaSalle extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Rex McCarthy's team, 41-0. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
