The Bishop Conaty-Loretto Wildcats will head out to face off against the Rio Hondo Prep Kares at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Bishop Conaty-Loretto came out on top against Alhambra on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. The Wildcats blew past the Moors 8-1. The victory was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on three straight.
Jaslyn Sigaran spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Angelique Aguillon, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Parra, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI.
Bishop Conaty-Loretto always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alhambra only posted an OBP of .138.
Rio Hondo Prep came out on top against Westridge last Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 13-run sixth inning. The Kares put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 19-9 win. The Kares haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
RYEN COVEY was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was EVONNY ORTEGA, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Bishop Conaty-Loretto pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Rio Hondo Prep, their record is now 11-4.
Bishop Conaty-Loretto suffered a grim 15-5 defeat to Rio Hondo Prep in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
