The Kennedy Commanders are taking a road trip to challenge the George Washington Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Things were looking good for Kennedy after they put the first points on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Wheat Ridge by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Commanders have suffered since May 3, 2024.

Marcelo Nevarez and Damian Ortiz stepped up to the plate in a big way. Nevarez scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-3, while Ortiz scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Nevarez is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
Even though they lost, Kennedy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for George Washington, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on Skyview with a sharp 13-6 win on Saturday. With that victory, the Patriots brought their scoring average up to 7.5 runs per game.
Henry Kuntner was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He also put up a stolen base, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Joseph Wiederholt, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.
The win got George Washington back to even at 2-2. As for Kennedy, they dropped their record down to 1-2 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Kennedy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .568. However, it's not like George Washington struggles in that department as they've averaged .464. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Kennedy suffered a grim 23-1 defeat to George Washington in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can Kennedy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
