Basketball Recap: Cape Fear Christian Academy Comes Up Short

It was a Battle of the Birds when Cape Fear Christian Academy took on Lee Christian on Tuesday. The Cape Fear Christian Academy Eagles were beaten by the Lee Christian Falcons 63-20. The Eagles have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Cape Fear Christian Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Savannah Autry and Lily Kate Dupree. Autry posted five points along with seven rebounds and three blocks, while Dupree put up six points. That's the most blocks Autry has posted since back in January of 2024.

Lee Christian was led to victory by Kaleigh Wilson and Elayna McFarland. Wilson almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine boards, while McFarland dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds. McFarland is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 20 games she's played dating back to last season. Madison Mashburn was another key player, putting up eight points and eight rebounds.

Cape Fear Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Lee Christian, their record now sits at 6-14.

Cape Fear Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lee Christian, they will take on Sandhills Classical Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Sandhills Classical Christian will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Lee Christian surely won't give up without a fight.
