The GV Christian Guardians will face off against the Needles Mustangs at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. GV Christian will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
GV Christian came out on top against Lake Mead Christian Academy on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 16-run third inning. The Guardians put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 21-1 win. The Guardians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 12 runs or more this season.
Hannah Heaston was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Isabella Palumbo was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Callyn Rider was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
GV Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Needles waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Vikings. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mustangs have posted since March 28th.
Audrina Bullchild spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and six unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.
At the plate, Needles got a big performance out of Summer Scott, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Liana DeLeon, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Needles pushed their record up to 19-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for GV Christian, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. GV Christian has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Needles struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
GV Christian suffered a grim 21-0 defeat to Needles when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Guardians have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
