Baseball Recap: Monroe Central Sets Scoring Season-High Against Daleville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monroe Central). They never let the Daleville Broncos get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Thursday. The Golden Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.

Caleb Luedike made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Luedike was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. He has become a key player for Monroe Central: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 2-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Logan Walker, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Isaac Middleton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Monroe Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Monroe Central's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Daleville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monroe Central will welcome Hagerstown at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 1.4 runs per game this season, so the Golden Bears' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Daleville, they will be playing at home against Morristown at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Yellow Jackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Broncos will no doubt try to take advantage of.
