The Veritas Academy Monarch will head out on the road to face off against the Lititz Christian Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Veritas Academy is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Veritas Academy suffered their biggest defeat since December 11, 2023 last Thursday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 70-47 walloping at the hands of Harrisburg Christian. Veritas Academy was down 58-33 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Meanwhile, Lititz Christian suffered a rough 75-51 defeat at the hands of High Point Baptist Academy on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Lititz Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 657th, while High Point Baptist Academy is ranked 314th).
Despite the defeat, Lititz Christian saw an underclassman step up: Jack Kriebel dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. Kriebel hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Caeden Harmon was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Veritas Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Lititz Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
Veritas Academy won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, slipping by Lititz Christian 59-58. The rematch might be a little tougher for Veritas Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
