Peyton Earp made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Cayleigh Pearson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Tuscaloosa County got a massive performance out of Brylee Myrick, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs Myrick has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Evan Morgan, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Tuscaloosa County lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hillcrest didn't launched any home runs.
Meanwhile, Prattville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Thompson, falling 15-0.
The win made it two in a row for Tuscaloosa County and bumps their season record up to 27-8. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Prattville, their loss dropped their record down to 8-12.
Tuscaloosa County skirted past Prattville 8-7 in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
